How to Use an Alcohol Lamp?

The steps for using an alcohol lamp are as follows:

  1. Prepare the work area: Choose a stable workbench and ensure there are no flammable materials nearby.
  2. Check the alcohol lamp: Ensure there is enough alcohol in the glass bottle of the lamp and check that the cap is functioning properly.
  3. Fill the alcohol: Open the alcohol lamp and carefully pour the appropriate amount of alcohol into it, avoiding spills. (This step can be done using a funnel) (The ideal alcohol level is between 1/4 and 2/3 of the lamp bottle.)
  4. Assemble the alcohol lamp: Attach the wick and the cap together.
  5. Light the alcohol lamp: Use a lighter or matches to ignite the center of the alcohol lamp.
  6. Use the alcohol lamp: Place the material to be heated or melted in a container at an appropriate distance from the flame. Handle with care to ensure the container is stable and unlikely to tip over.
  7. Extinguish the alcohol lamp: After completing the work, use the cap of the alcohol lamp to extinguish the flame. Wait for the alcohol lamp to cool down completely before moving or storing it.
  8. Clean the work area: Clean the workbench and ensure there isno residual alcohol or other debris around the alcohol lamp.
  9. Store the alcohol lamp: Place the alcohol lamp in a safe location, away from flammable materials, ensuring it will not be knocked over or pose a hazard in future use.
